It’s a good idea to clean up old plans later (using the suggestions in Option 2), but there’s no reason you can’t just let a plan sit untouched for a while to make sure your files, conversations, notes, and other information are still available. It will still show up on your Planner hub, but you can remove it from your Favourite plans, which will help you focus only on current work.

  • Option 3: Do nothing! There’s nothing wrong with just walking away from the plan when you’re done.
  • Consider saving the group’s files to another location, and copying any critical information from the group’s conversations and OneNote notebook to another location, before deleting the group. Please note: There is no way to recover a plan (or its files, conversations, and other data) after it has been deleted.

Before you do this, make sure that no one else is using the group for things outside Planner. If you’re the plan administrator, you can edit the group to delete the plan. If you are the plan administrator, you can’t remove yourself from the plan.

The plan’s files, tasks, conversations, and other elements are left in place. Option 1: Remove yourself from the plan. If you’re not the plan’s administrator, you can leave the plan, which removes it from your Planner hub. When you’re done with a plan, you have three options: Go back one page in the web browser (same as Alt + Left Arrow) Or, if a dialog box is too long for the screen, move up in the dialog window When a scroll bar is shown in the left navigation pane, scroll up. Or, if a dialog box is too long for the screen, move down in the dialog box When a scroll bar is shown in the left navigation pane, scroll down. On a Board page, when a column header is selected, move the selected column one position to the right on the page On a Board page, when a column header is selected, move the selected column one position to the left on the page On a Board page, move the selected task bucket down one position on the page On a Board page, move the selected task buck up one position on the page On a Board page, move to the next or previous task bucket You can create multiple buckets and then group them in a nice view.Microsoft Planner offers many different keyboard shortcuts. Buckets are a wonderful way to make big classifications of tasks, like departments, business areas, major types of tasks, etc. Fo r example, think of a Kanban board where you can have “Waiting for feedback” or “On-hold.” I would recommend, though, not using it to track progress since there’s a field for that (more on that later). Notice that you can only assign one bucket to a specific task while you can have multiple tags. Buckets are big groups of information that you can assign tasks to. I want to detail a little bit more the concept of “Buckets” because people may confuse them with tags. Then you have specific contexts to work on. If you want a rule, and oversimplifying a little, think of them as ways to display the tasks into columns. Select a background image and your plan will immediately change to use that photo. A panel will open on the right showing the backgrounds that you can choose from. You can sort by the label and tackle all related tasks or only pick the ones assigned to you. To change the background in Microsoft Planner, first, open your plan, click the three-dot icon at the top of the plan, and then select Plan Settings from the drop-down menu. But you can also organize things that you don’t usually use to aggregate information, like “Assigned To,” “Progress,” or even “Priority.” This is a wonderful way to, depending on the needs, change the grouping and work on the items of that group.
